Comal County Genealogy Society is again offering a $1000 scholarship in 2026. The scholarship is open to 12th graders attending any public or private high school in Comal County (including all of Comal ISD and New Braunfels ISD, regardless of the school’s location) with plans to attend a Higher Education institution after graduation.

The application is a small genealogy project consisting of a 4 generation Ancestry/Pedigree chart, and providing a picture and description of a treasured object (family photo, document, or heirloom) that is important to the applicant.

Submission Deadline is 09 March 2026 and will be awarded in April.

The winner of the 2025 Comal County Genealogy Society $1000 Scholarship is Rylee Wunderlich of Canyon Lake High School. She was presented with a certificate of accomplishment at the May 13th meeting.

The scholarship was open to graduating 12th graders who attend a high school in Comal County (or any high school in Comal ISD or New Braunfels ISD, even if in an adjacent county). Entries were received from across Comal County including applicants from Canyon Lake H.S., New Braunfels H.S., Canyon H.S., Davenport H.S., Smithson Valley H.S., New Braunfels Christian Academy, and St. John Paul II Catholic H.S..
